Gryffindor is one of the four Houses of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, founded by Godric Gryffindor (A rule book of Gryffiindor is available here). The particular characteristics of students Sorted into Gryffindor are courage, brave, chivalry, and determination. The emblematic animal is a lion, and its colours are red and gold.
Gryffindor corresponds roughly to the element of fire, and it is for that reason that the colours red and gold were chosen to represent the House. The colour of fire corresponds to that of a lion as well, red representing the mane and tail and gold representing the coat.

He has the intelligence and wits for Ravenclaw, the thirst to prove himself (ambition) for Slytherin, and the Courage of a Gryffindor. He only makes one choice “Not Slytherin”. The hat sorts him into Gryffindor. The next question that comes into our mind that why he whispering not Slytherin because Hagrid told him that Voldemort was in Slytherin, and that that’s where most bad wizards are from.
